On Tuesday night, Aptos stepped up to the challenge of playing the undefeated Scotts Valley team. Aptos came out strong with senior captains working together to create a goal 8 minutes into the game. Aubree Westjohn assisted Brynn Mitchell to get an early lead that eventually contributed to their win. Aptos kept this lead going into the second half when junior Susana Estrada assisted Mitchell on her second goal of the night in the 21st minute. Later on Scotts Valley scored off a free kick at the top of the box. This caused Aptos to work hard to stay ahead at the end of the game with chances that kept everyone watching on the edge of their seats. The Mariners finished with a 2-1 win to knock off SV from first place and continue to get closer to the top.
