After taking the win against San Benito yesterday night, Aptos was determined to add another win against St.Genevieve to their record. Aptos was dominating the game from the start by taking shots within minutes of starting, yet were coming out empty. While battling against a St. Genevieve winger halfway through the first half, outside defender Julianne Houser received a ball to the face, resulting in a dripping bloody nose and did not re-enter the game. Aptos continued to attack the goal, but were not having any luck. In the twenty-third minute of the second half, Aptos forward Brynn Mitchell received a pass from attacking midfielder Jazmine Casteneda and drove the ball towards the goal. After making a cut to her right side, Mitchell shot a powerful kick, resulting in the first goal of the game. After having that momentum, Aptos was determined to get another goal. Four minutes after Mitchell’s goal, Aptos had an opportunity to score after being rewarded a corner. When the ball was crossed, winger Itzel Fahey-Vivo tapped the ball in just out of the goalie’s reach. Aptos’s season has started off strong with two wins and one tie and will continue to succeed throughout the season.
