CoEd JV Lacrosse vs. Salinas HS

Game Date
Mar 27, 2015
Score
MARINERS: 15
SALINAS HS: 1

In this game against Salinas, a team in its inaugural year, we were able to start players that haven’t had that opportunity thus far and everyone came together to get us our fourth League Victory, 15-1.

Offense:  We had 11 different players score at least one goal.   Jack Hegerle had his second “Hat-Trick”, Jackson Carver and Matthew Quinn both scored twice, and we had two “Blue Ball” goals from Jordan Nakanishi and Pedro Martinez.  8 Players recorded at least one assist.  Jackson Carver had a “Five-Finger Discount” with 5 assists, bringing his total to 21 (to put this in perspective, last year’s leader in assists had 6 for the entire season!).  Rookie Attack Starter Pamela Contreras scored her first points with two assists.   We also had 7 players who recorded at least one goal and one assist; Jack Hegerle, Jackson Carver, Matthew Quinn, Patrick Peoples, Jamison Mace, Callen Scaroni, and Noah Gabay.  The Game’s MVP goes to Jackson Carver who amassed 7 points, won the majority of Face-Offs he was involved in, and recorded 9 Ground Balls to add to his total in his quest for the coveted “Hoover Award”.  After much consideration, looking at the scorebook, and listening to Player input I have decided to give the game ball to the aforementioned Rookie Attack Starter Pamela Contreras.  Pam not only scored her first two points as a rookie starter but, in true Mariner fashion, refused to leave the field after a big hit and continued to contribute to the offense.  Way to go Pam!!

Defense:  The entire team played outstanding defense and prevented any real threat to our Keeper, Matthew Arjon who added 5 saves to his season total (55).  Our Long Sticks all improved their ground game recording at least one Ground Ball apiece.  The Defensive Player of the Game goes to Koya Oki, who recorded 3 Ground Balls, ran several good Clears including a couple of  ‘Coast-to-Coast’ attempts that resulted in a shot and an assist (Blue Ball), and was relentless in his attempts to give the ‘Business’.

Nice work Team!  Let’s have a good week and get ready for Christopher.
