Dr. Baldwin was raised in Santa Cruz County.  She was a Class One (equivalent to Level 10 today) competitive gymnast and competed across the western United States during her early years as an athlete.  At the age of twelve she was ranked number five in the state of California at the Class One Level (Level 10 today).  She comes from a family of student athletes, including her Great Uncle Burr Baldwin who was the first UCLA football player to receive All-American Honors in 1946.  As an Aptos High School student she was a member of the Cross Country Team, the JV Cheer Team, and the Varsity Pom Team.  During her senior year of high school she transferred to Davis Senior High School in northern California where she started a songleading team for that school.  After high school she attended Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo and was selected to be a member of the Cal Poly Dance Team.  Ultimately she transferred to Humboldt State University to pursue studies in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology.  She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences/ Molecular Biology and a minor in Psychology, and then progressed on to earn a Masters of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences in Florida.  Prior to studying medicine, Dr. Baldwin taught high school Biology, Advanced Placement Biology, Physical Science, Chemistry, and mathematics at Potter Valley High School in northern California.  Erin is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and works full time for the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Department of Geriatric Medicine to care for older adults in our local Santa Cruz community.  She is an avid snowboarder, and enjoys Hot Pilates, and all forms of dance.  She volunteers in her free time to coach the Aptos High School Song Pom Team.
