Nicole Silva

Hall of Fame Clas of 2004

Nicole Silva (class of 1995) – In cross-country, Nicole was a three-time SCCAL individual champion and a two-time CCS champion. Nicole went on to place sixth and seventh, in 1993 and 1994 respectively, at the CIF State Cross-Country Championships. Nicole’s cross-country teams were SCCAL and CCS champions an unprecedented three consecutive years (1991, 1992, 1993). In track, Nicole was a six-time SCCAL champion, four times in the 3200 meters and twice in the 1600 meters. She was a CCS medalist three times, and she was the CCS 3200 meter champion in 1995. Nicole’s track teams also won three consecutive SCCAL championships (1992, 1993, 1994). In track, Nicole had several impressive victories at the CCS Top-8 Meet and at the Stanford Invitational, and she finished seventh at the 1993 Wharf-to-Wharf Race. In 1995, Nicole was selected as a KCCN Athlete-of-the-Week, and as the Santa Cruz Sentinel Female Scholar Athlete-of-the-Year. Nicole went on to run at Tulane University, and she earned dual degrees in Biology and Psychology. Nicole is currently a science teacher at Aptos Junior High School, and she coaches the Sea Dragons’ cross-country and track teams. Nicole is engaged to marry her high school sweetheart, Robert Culbertson. Nicole was presented into the Hall by her former head coach, Bill Hotchkiss.
