On January 28, running at famed Hayward Field in Oregon, Aptos alum (Class of 2013) Nikki Hiltz won the USATF 1500m Outdoor National Championship (4:03.10), and earned the right to represent the U.S. at the 2023 World Track & Field Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Two weeks later, racing in Monaco in a Diamond League race, Nikki set a U.S. record in the mile (4:16.35), breaking Mary Decker Slaney's record set in 1985.
