Jim LaTorre – Honorary Member – Jim’s career began at Aptos in 1986. He was the Athletic Director/Activities Director for many years, as well as an assistant football and baseball coach. Subsequently, Jim also served as an Assistant Principal at both Aptos High and at Aptos Junior High. In 1997, Jim took-over as public address announcer from the legendary Dave Lawrence. At Aptos, Jim has announced football, boys and girls basketball, baseball, and several other sports. Eventually, Jim also added announcing for the Cabrillo College football program, for SCCAL and CCS league playoff games, and for the KRUZ/Comcast Game-of-the-Week telecasts. Even when Jim isn’t announcing, his ubiquitous presence is seen at almost every home event. Jim states, “I’m lucky to have been supported and critiqued by my loving wife, Cathy, and by my terrific sons, Tyler and Garret!” Jim’s announcing career has also enabled him to closely follow Tyler and Garret’s athletic careers. In 2002, Jim was selected as the Man-of-the-Year by the Aptos Chamber of Commerce. Jim is currently the Assistant Principal at R.J. Fisher Middle School in Los Gatos. Jim was presented into the Hall by his sons Tyler and Garret.
