Hall of Fame Class of 2011

Sierra Alexander (class of 1997) – Sierra was a varsity swimmer all four years at Aptos High School. As a much-anticipated 8th grader, she recorded times that would have won multiple events at the SCCAL Championship meet. In Sierra’s very first high school meet as a freshman, she broke the AHS record in the 100 yard breaststroke. During all four years at AHS, Sierra won both the 100 yard breaststroke and 200 individual medley at the SCCAL Championships, and she also placed in the top 8 at CCS in both events all four years. She was part of multiple winning and record-setting relay teams as well. As a sophomore she broke a 9 year-old SCCAL record in the 200 individual medley. She was honored as an All American in 1995, 1996, & 1997. She helped lead the girl’s varsity swim team to four consecutive SCCAL Team Championships. Sierra also swam for the Cabrillo Threshers, competing in many junior national and international meets. After graduating from AHS in 1997, Sierra earned a swimming scholarship to UC Santa Barbara. She graduated from Santa Barbara in 2001 with her B.A in Sociology, and graduated again in 2002 with her Masters in Education and a Teaching Credential. She went on to teach kindergarten in Southern California for five years and one year in Colorado. Sierra currently lives in Colorado Springs and is married to her high school sweetheart Paul Alexander. She is a stay-at-home mom with two beautiful girls, Taylor and Madison. Sierra was presented into the Hall by her former coach, Jim Triplett.
